Tree is DONE!

YAY!! My advent calendar is finally done! I spent all day Sunday finishing the tree. I hand lots of little steps to finish:
* Cut the fusible interfacing to fit the back of the tree
* Pin and fuse it on
* Pin the stump on
* Pin and sew the tree backing on
* Iron on the snow patches (I used heat'n bond from JoAnns)
* Attach the numbers I cut out of felt that I found with a sticky side (from Michael's

* Cut out my star and attach it to the top

I love the way it turned out. I am so excited to use it for years to come. The only thing I wish I had done, and at some point will add, is a way to hang it up. Maybe a few loops on some of the branches or something.

Thank you again to Abby at A Feathered Nest for this wonderful idea, I cannot wait to see how yours turned out!

More Camera

I LOVE my camera! The pictures are so crisp and clear. This is one of my favorite from this weekend. I spent hours playing with all the settings trying different things that my old point and shoot could not do. And an added bonus I did not realize is that this camera also shoots video. Not grainy shaky video like some, but beautiful video! I am in LOVE

Camera!

I am sooo excited! My new camera should be here TODAY! Right now my little sister is house sitting for me so when the FedEX person shows up she can sign for it and I don't have to wait until after Thanksgiving.

My dad has had a Canon Rebel XS something or other for a few years and has loved it. Since he showed me what I know I decided to go with a similar camera. I decided on the Canon EOS Rebel T1i EF-S IS Digital SLR, I got mine here because I just paid of my Dell card three months early (one of those no interest pay off by a certain date things) and decided to reward my self.

Words

This project was my first attempt at hand stitching anything. I do not have fancy machines that will do letters for me so I had to figure out a way to get my letters straight and all fit on the square.

So I pulled out the tracing paper from my architecture days and wrote it on that, then I pinned it to the felt and sewed through it.

Just pulling the paper out made the stitches uneven so I used an exacto knife and tweezers to get the little pieces out, but I think it turned out okay for a first attempt.

Hello!

My place of work has its ups and downs, some days I am so busy I don't even have time to check my e-mail (more than twice) and other days I am searching the internet for things to do. Well a few months ago a friend linked me to a blog (of coarse I did not write the site down)with a great recipe and I have been searching blogs ever since.

So why not create my own with all the new ideas I myself am trying? I know I wont have very regular updates and nothing fancy because I have a crazy life right now, the beginning of hockey season is always crazy.

A little about me: I have been happily married for a year and a half as of...well today! We have recently decided to stop preventing having a baby and "see what happens" as R has been telling EVERYONE where he works. I have played hockey for 12 years now, when I met R I got him into playing and now we play together on a mens intermediate team, and I play on an advanced woman's team. I also coach the U19 girls varsity travel team 3x a week. Phew yes I spend lots of time at the rink.
