Lots of White Fun

Look what we got yesterday.

We did not take an official measurement but there is at least 10" of new snow. So while Jaxton did this (look at those cheeks)

I got to 'play' in the snow for the fist time this year and dig out my car and then cause I was having so much fun (no I am not being sarcastic I really did love doing it) I dug out Robie's truck as well.

Little Man Update

I'm pretty sure being a mom is the best thing ever. My little man is a week old and I am more in love with him than ever. He is sleeping for 3-4 hours every night before needing food a diaper change then falling right back to sleep. As long as I take one nap during the day I don't feel to bad. I love to watch him sleep, he is so peacefull and perfect. Robie is so cute with him, blowing on his belly, eating his fingers, playing peak-a-boo.

He's Here

Jaxton Carl Stock

Born 12/10/10 at 8:41pm. He weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 19.5in long. He is perfect and healthy.

We are now home and getting used to a whole new way of life. He is a very quiet spoiled baby, he fusses a little when he is hungry and only screams when he is naked and getting changed. The only time he is alone in his crib is at night, otherwise he sleeps on mommy or daddy so we can just watch him.

I have never been a good "cat napper" but I am learning to do just that, sleep when he sleeps. Nights seem to be the worst but that is probably because there is not much Robie can do to help, but I have been told they will get better :)

Robie is amazing (not that I had my doubts I just want to brag) not only around the house, keeping the place clean, doing laundry, feeding me, waiting on me (almost) hand and foot. And as a father...he is adorable! I am so glad that Robie dose not have work over Christmas break and can stay home with us all day.

Alright back to staring at my little monkey man!

Oooh and he is already sucking his thumb, yay no binky!

Christmas Time Again

It's that time of year again, Christmas tree hunting. Now I have to admit because I am about ready to pop and could not go climbing in the mountains, I was a little worried when Marcel and Robie went chasing after a tree that "looks pretty good from here". Now Robie has not done much of the the tree hunting, his family usually went with fake trees or ones from lots/farms. So yes I was a little worried when the boys disappeared from view and a little while latter I heard the saw fire up. But, I have to say I will never doubt his tree finding abilities again, they found the cutest little tree that fits perfectly in the corner of the living room.

I took us a little while longer to find mom and dads tree, but after lots of hunting (road hunting on my part) we found'em one.

After getting it home and a few tries to get it to stay upright (we need a new stand apparently) our Christmas decorations are complete.

Baby Shower

My mom hosted a baby shower for me yesterday at my place so I didn't have to move much, and so everyone could see our new house. It was full of food and girl talk. Lots of catching up with ladies I have not see in a while, it was good to see everyone. All I had to do was clean house a little and make hot Carmel Apple Cider. My mom made everything else including these adorable monkey cupcakes.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit and brought Jaxton all kinds of goodies

Venison Pot Pie

Yummy!

Robie loves chicken pot pie and we have a ton of venison stew meat from last year and this year. It is one of the cuts I have a hard time finding recipes for, I usually just end up cutting it into strips and using it in tacos. But this time I got a little creative. I did not follow a recipe but basically made venison stew and put it in a pie shell :)

Venison Pot Pie

stew meat
2 potatoes cut into bite size pieces, cooked
2 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery. chopped
onion (I forgot to buy one so I used extra onion powder)
2 pks brown gravy mix
2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
onion powder
garlic powder
pepper
2 pie crusts

First cook the meat with the onion and garlic powder, pepper. Add the Worcestershire sauce, celery, carrots and onion. Cook until just tender. Meanwhile make your brown gravy, I started with just one pack of mix and it was not enough so I made up another (I guess it depends on how much you can fit in your pie with all your other stuff :).

Add all your ingredients together and stir to cover, put in your pie plate and top with the second pie shell, be sure to make slits in the top for steam. I baked my at 425 for about 30 mins or until the crust was nice and brown. Enjoy!!

It's DONE!

My kitchen island is DONE! If you don't remember (cause it really has been that long) check out here and here. The finished product turned out NOTHING like I first pictured, but I am so glad that I mixed it up a little and made a bold move.

I had the stainless steel top made where I work, it was a little bit of a splurge but I am happy Robie talked me into it. And the bottom, well I made the decision to change the colors of my kitchen. I did have a black and green thing goin, but our bedroom is just about the same color green and my next favorite color is blue which we have in the living room and the bathroom. So I took after my mom who has had a red kitchen for as long as I can remember and I will begin to phase out the black and green.

Where is my Head?!?

I read about this in all the pregnancy books, this feeling of confusion and exhaustion. Asking the same question two minutes later because you already forgot the answer. Forgetting where you put your keys down (not really anything new) but then finding them and forgetting why you needed them. Making a to do list and then loosing it. Walking out of the grocery store only to find your shopping list while looking for your keys and realizing you forgot the most important ingredient in the fudge you are making for the bake sale. Not being able to finish one nights worth of dishes before your back/hips hurt and you have to sit down (thank God for Robie).

But I suppose it is all preparation for when little man decides to show the world his face and I get no sleep at all and will be walking around in a haze. I am not complaining, this is all just so new to me. When I sit back on the couch after half the dishes are done and the unfolded laundry is at my feet, and Jaxton leans his little butt against my side and stretches his arms I remember to savor these moments, they won't last much longer, as I am down to 6 weeks.

I am also starting to feel the nesting instinct kick in full time. I have been craking the whip to get the little things done around the house. As you saw the bathroom is finally done, and I am so excited to say my kitchen island is ALMOST done :) Robie remade the drawers to his liking, I finally picked out the top. We got it yesterday and I looks great. Now all that it needs is a few coats of paint that I plan on starting tonight, luckily I can do most of that sitting down. We have someone coming to look at the old tub that I will be sad to see go but I don't want it living in the backyard all winter.

I don't know how many times I have walked into his room and rearranged all the stuffed monkeys we have collected already. I have sorted his clothes by size, then again by sleeve length, and again by cuteness. I have another wonderful friend giving me more little boy clothes so I will get to do it all over again.

Okay anyway long post lots of rambling but I wanted it all written down somewhere, and I am not good at keeping a journal so here internet here are my feelings. Like I said I will have project updates soon! My girls (funny I still think of them like that) are also hosting the Blastoff Tournament this weekend, so if I can remember to take my camera to the rink I will have hockey pictures.

Ooh it is currently 45 and sunny out but I can't help dreaming of this...

Finally Finally FINALLY part 2

Finally the little things are done
Finally the last paint touch ups are done
FINALLY the bathroom is clean enough for me to take pictures of it.

We are usually not this bad at procrastinating on our projects (my mind leaps right to my kitchen island that is STILL not done....) Anyhoo here are some pictures of the finished project. I LOVE my tub, it is so deep and comfortable to lay in. The shelves on the end are perfect for all of our towels, linens and misc bathroom supplies. Robie also made a cupboard door for the very bottom that can latch and keep little babies out.

We bought a shelf/ cupboard to go over the toilet for even more storage.

Elk Killer(s)

Just have to share this picture, can't believe I haven't yet. This is my then 15 year old sister (she turned 16 about a week later) and her 1st bull elk. Shot this year with a compound bow, at about 23 yards, with a score of 320. I am jealous and amazed, she is quite the hunter. My dad shot one with his bow a few weeks later, I will have to get a picture of his up as well.

Bathroom Remodel Part 1

Talk about a crazy weekend! I knew that this was going to be a whirlwind project, it seems that when Robie starts a project he wont stop until it is done. Which I suppose is a good thing, but he keeps us busy. Bear with me while I try and capture three days of work in the correct order...

Friday afternoon Robie got off work early just so they could get a head start. My dad and brother, who were HUGE helps this weekend and we could not have done it without them, met us there and the guys tore right into things. First out came my claw foot tub :(, then the paneling and the lower portion of the exterior wall. Well, it was only supposed to be the lower part of the wall (so the tub would sit flush with the drywall/plaster that was already there, until we realized there was absolutely no insulation in the back wall.

So, insulation and more sheetrock got added to the shopping list. Also added to the list was mortar, because apparently that is what you have to use to level the tub and help reduce vibrations from the jets. So with shopping list #1 complete my Dad, Mom and I set off to Home Depot while Marcel and Robie made a mess out of what remained of the bathroom.

Lets see, when we got back from Home Depot the guys built a wall to house the plumbing, mixed the mortar and set a giant glob of it down in the middle of the floor.

They set the tub on top of the Dino poo and leveled it out. And last for the night came the sheetrock, by that time it was after 11:00 and everyone was ready for bed.

Saturday my dad and I spent most of the day at the ice rink taking a coaching clinic. Robie and Marcel spent the day working on the plumbing, crawling around in the spider infested basement, lucky them! After the clinic I escaped and went birthday shopping with my sister for our mom and my dad headed out to tape and put mud on the parts of sheetrock that we were going to cover with the tub surround. I think everyone was out of there before 8:00.

Sunday Robie and I spent the morning cutting out the window and faucet holes in the tub surround and made trip #4 or #5 to Home Depot to get adhesive to attach the surround, of course we had the caulk and sealant but not the adhesive. Then I hightailed it out of there to my parents house to spend some time with my mom for her birthday, Robie later joined us for dinner and cake after another session with the plumbing pipes. The first person to remodel tried to use the wrong fittings with copper pipe, Robie was not very happy that he had to redo the guys iffy work.

I think that about sums up what we have done so far, we still have a lot to do but I should be able to take a shower tonight :) My dad is over there right now finishing up the tape and mud on the sheetrock so we can get paint on the walls.

Thank you Dad, Mom and Marcel for all you help on this project. I can't wait for it to be finished!

A Good Mistake

Hehe, they sent us the wrong tub!! We decided to get just a soaker tub without the jets because we really didn't need them and it would save us $200.00. We also thought we would have to do a whole ton of wiring to get it hooked up to the motor...blah blah blah. When we picked it up tonight and got it home and unwrapped I noticed something a little off...it had jets! And because we had not done any research into todays whirlpool tubs little did we know that all you have to do is plug it into a 3 phase outlet and turn it on :)

So, I am not going to lie, I LOVE my new tub and it is just sitting in the living room. Clawfoots are cool and timeless but...as a fat preggo I can't wait to sit in it and all its bubbly goodness.

Stay tuned for updates on the adventure.....
