Jumbo Teddy Bear

Yep, that's what the pattern said JUMBO.
But for some reason the 5ft part, or maybe I just didn't want to see that part.
Oh well it is done and Jaxton loves it, or maybe it is just the furry softness of the fabric but at least he is not afraid of it.

He loves the fabric so much when I came across this cute little guy I knew Jaxton needed one.
So I made one out of the scraps and put at rattle in it.
He takes Monster with him whenever he can

The pattern was really easy to read and follow except I must have done something wrong because the head and neck look more like a dog then a bear...

Food, Glorious Food!

Oh boy our life just got a little crazier :)

We gave Jaxton his first 'solid' food this morning and boy did he LOVE it!

The first couple bites he was a little hesitant and not so sure but after a few more spoon fulls he was bouncing up and down lunging and grabbing for the spoon.

Work Woes

My baby is 6 weeks old today.

He is smiling it Mommy and Daddy,

He is making cooing noises,

He is trying really hard to roll over, loves to bounce up and down

He is a total ladies man.

It makes me so sad to think that in two days I have to start work again and will not get to be around him all day.

I am so jealous off all the stay at home moms who get to watch their child's every big milestone and even the small ones.

I want to spend every day at home with him.

I have been so spoiled these past 6 weeks, just the 3 of us at home with nothing better to do than watch him sleep.

I am so afraid that I am going to miss everything.

Even Robie gets to stay home and see him as he has not been called back work.

Look at that little cutie sitting on his Daddy (nice smile hun :)

Robie's Turn

This time four weeks ago I was in a hospital room anxiously awaiting 10cm and finally meeting my little man.

Today we hit a milestone, Jaxton took his first bottle and I cried. I was sad that my little man doesn't need me, I was happy that daddy finally got a turn at that special connection and I was scared that he would no longer want the boob.

But all that was for nothing because of course he still needs me and he will still take it directly from the source :)

Little Man Update

I'm pretty sure being a mom is the best thing ever. My little man is a week old and I am more in love with him than ever. He is sleeping for 3-4 hours every night before needing food a diaper change then falling right back to sleep. As long as I take one nap during the day I don't feel to bad. I love to watch him sleep, he is so peacefull and perfect. Robie is so cute with him, blowing on his belly, eating his fingers, playing peak-a-boo.

He's Here

Jaxton Carl Stock

Born 12/10/10 at 8:41pm. He weighed 6lbs 13oz and was 19.5in long. He is perfect and healthy.

We are now home and getting used to a whole new way of life. He is a very quiet spoiled baby, he fusses a little when he is hungry and only screams when he is naked and getting changed. The only time he is alone in his crib is at night, otherwise he sleeps on mommy or daddy so we can just watch him.

I have never been a good "cat napper" but I am learning to do just that, sleep when he sleeps. Nights seem to be the worst but that is probably because there is not much Robie can do to help, but I have been told they will get better :)

Robie is amazing (not that I had my doubts I just want to brag) not only around the house, keeping the place clean, doing laundry, feeding me, waiting on me (almost) hand and foot. And as a father...he is adorable! I am so glad that Robie dose not have work over Christmas break and can stay home with us all day.

Alright back to staring at my little monkey man!

Oooh and he is already sucking his thumb, yay no binky!

Baby Shower

My mom hosted a baby shower for me yesterday at my place so I didn't have to move much, and so everyone could see our new house. It was full of food and girl talk. Lots of catching up with ladies I have not see in a while, it was good to see everyone. All I had to do was clean house a little and make hot Carmel Apple Cider. My mom made everything else including these adorable monkey cupcakes.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit and brought Jaxton all kinds of goodies

Where is my Head?!?

I read about this in all the pregnancy books, this feeling of confusion and exhaustion. Asking the same question two minutes later because you already forgot the answer. Forgetting where you put your keys down (not really anything new) but then finding them and forgetting why you needed them. Making a to do list and then loosing it. Walking out of the grocery store only to find your shopping list while looking for your keys and realizing you forgot the most important ingredient in the fudge you are making for the bake sale. Not being able to finish one nights worth of dishes before your back/hips hurt and you have to sit down (thank God for Robie).

But I suppose it is all preparation for when little man decides to show the world his face and I get no sleep at all and will be walking around in a haze. I am not complaining, this is all just so new to me. When I sit back on the couch after half the dishes are done and the unfolded laundry is at my feet, and Jaxton leans his little butt against my side and stretches his arms I remember to savor these moments, they won't last much longer, as I am down to 6 weeks.

I am also starting to feel the nesting instinct kick in full time. I have been craking the whip to get the little things done around the house. As you saw the bathroom is finally done, and I am so excited to say my kitchen island is ALMOST done :) Robie remade the drawers to his liking, I finally picked out the top. We got it yesterday and I looks great. Now all that it needs is a few coats of paint that I plan on starting tonight, luckily I can do most of that sitting down. We have someone coming to look at the old tub that I will be sad to see go but I don't want it living in the backyard all winter.

I don't know how many times I have walked into his room and rearranged all the stuffed monkeys we have collected already. I have sorted his clothes by size, then again by sleeve length, and again by cuteness. I have another wonderful friend giving me more little boy clothes so I will get to do it all over again.

Okay anyway long post lots of rambling but I wanted it all written down somewhere, and I am not good at keeping a journal so here internet here are my feelings. Like I said I will have project updates soon! My girls (funny I still think of them like that) are also hosting the Blastoff Tournament this weekend, so if I can remember to take my camera to the rink I will have hockey pictures.

Ooh it is currently 45 and sunny out but I can't help dreaming of this...

30 Weeks

Eeek!! I only have 10 weeks left!! I feel so much bigger that I did only 4 weeks ago but the pictures look about the same. At our appointment last week I was measuring at 31 1/2 weeks (when I was only 29). I'm not sure what that means, I have a chunky Monkey in my belly or I'm a chunky momma, I will have to ask next week. He moves all day until we show up at Grandma and Grandpa's or Aunt Sidonie is around then he is completely still. They have still not felt him move.

On another note we have a big remodel project coming up and can't wait to see how it looks when it is done. Pictures to come for sure!

Maternity Shirts

I really like the fit of fitted maternity shirts, you know the ones with scrunchy sides that don't leave a little tent overhang over your extra large belly. But there are not many places here in Missoula MT that sells maternity clothes, and those that do charge outrageous prices for shirts I will only wear for the next three months. So I set out to make my own.

I found three plain tee shirts for $3.99 at Old Navy size large (I usually wear a medium) and a pack of 1/8" elastic from Walmart. I cut two 7" pieces of elastic, measured 3" down the seam from the armpit and placed a pin to mark my spot. I tacked down the end back stitching several times, then pulled the elastic tight and fed it through the machine.

The best part is that because the finished edge is so wide you can't see the stitching on the outside of the shirt so it does not need to be perfect!

Dot Mobile

I saw this adorable mobile on Samster Mommy, but since we are having a boy I figured I should make it a little more 'manly', you know not quite as delicate as butterflies. I found adorable monkey scrapbook paper at Michaels and some ribbon and set about cutting out circles. I glued them together with with ribbon in between and hot glued them to the wreath form I found at JoAnns. Easy but time consuming, which was perfect since I never feel like doing much after work.

It is a little long so I am sure I will have to do some adjusting, we will see how long it takes the cats to find it and Jaxton to be able to reach it.

I've Been Kinda Lazy

with the whole posting thing. I have been slowly working on projects, completing somethings starting new things.

First off I used left over fabric from my car seat tent to make some spit up cloths. When I was shopping for some I saw a few in a peanut shape that I thought would keep it on our shoulders much better, so I copied it :) A few of them I finished the edges nicely, and the others I just sewed the two pieces wring sides together then clipped around the edges every 1/4 inch or so and washed a few times.

I also made a boppy slip cover using the pattern from Vanilla Joy. I mostly just used the pattern and made a few adjustments. Her pattern uses a zipper to close the back, I made my back piece longer and used Velcro to close the back.

I have another project that is almost complete, just need R to hang it up so I can take pictures and get it on here

26 Weeks

Okay, so I have been slacking according to my mom because I have not been taking belly pics, and I suppose she is right, I just don't like pictures of myself. But, I suppose these are really pictures of Monkey and I will probably regret it if I don't take some. So here is the first of many to come.

Sewing and Coloring

I had three projects I wanted to get accomplished this long Labor day weekend, and here it is Sunday afternoon and they are done. First on my list of things to do was was a stop at JoAnns fabric where they are having a huge sale, 50% off all their baby fabric and fleece, to pick up material for a nursing cover and a car seat tent. I also picked up some dye to spruce up a few of the onesies I have been given that have seen their share of spit-up and blow-ups already.

I used the tutorial from Little Birdie Secrets for the nursing cover. I added a small corner of fleece to both corners and my piece of boning was a little longer but it all worked out, and I love it. I have lots of leftover fabric and I am going to use it to make a few matching burp cloths.

Then I made a car seat tent loosely following a tutorial from Scraps N' Strings. I did not use the binding around the edges I just sewed around it to give it a finished look. And I used snuggle flannel for both sides since we are going to be spending a lot of time watching hockey games.

Lastly I used Dylon to dye a handful of used onesies. I really like the results, except that I think I splashed some of the orange into the other colors so a few of them look 'dirty' but I have plans to fix that :)
